In Memoriam. - Miss Caroline L. Griffin, Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A B CDEDFGHI JKLKMNON PQRQSTCT SUVUCBWB

Died at New York November thA
-
WRITTEN ON HER BIRTH DAYB
-
-
The day returns beloved friendC
When in thy Mother's armsD
Thou a fair gift from Heaven wert laidE
In all thine infant charmsD
That day with cloudless sky returnsF
But yet thou art not hereG
And from the smitten Mother's eyeH
Distils the mourner's tearI
-
The wondrous brightness of thy smileJ
Thy tones of greeting kindK
The love of knowledge that inspiredL
Thy strong and ardent mindK
Thy pity for the suffering poorM
Thy patient zeal to teachN
Their children though in manners rudeO
And ignorant in speechN
-
And all thy many deeds and wordsP
Of friendship's earnest partQ
Are with a never fading traceR
Depictured on my heartQ
But thou art with that Saviour dearS
Who was thine early choiceT
And mid thy blooming youth didst bendC
A listener to His voiceT
-
So thy firm faith without a fearS
Launch'd forth on Jordan's waveU
The victor palm branch in thy handV
That o'er stern Death He gaveU
And may we meet beloved friendC
At God's appointed dayB
Where every care and pain of earthW
Have fled like dreams awayB
