The world seems drearier when the good departB
The just the truthful such as never madeC
Self their chief aim nor strove with glozing wordsD
To counterfeit a love they never feltE
But steadfast and serene to Friendship gaveF
Its sacred scope and ne'er from Duty shrankG
Though sternest toil and care environ itH
These loving others better than themselvesI
Fulfill the gospel rule and taste a blissJ
While here below unknown to selfish soulsK
And when they die must find the clime where dwellsL
A God of truth as tend the kindred streamsM
To their absorbing oceanN
Such was sheA
Who left us yesterday Her speaking smileO
Her earnest footstep hastening to give aidC
Or sympathy her ready hand well skill'dP
In all that appertains to Woman's sphereQ
Her large heart pouring life o'er every deedR
And her warm interchange of social joyS
Stay with us as a pictureT
There we oftU
Musing shall contemplate each lineamentU
With mournful tenderness through gushing tearsV
That tell our loss and her unmeasured gainW
