Rhyme Scheme: A BCDDC EFGGF HIJJI KLMMML

Child of RobERT BONNER Esq died at New York April th aged monthsA

-
There was a cradling lent us hereB
To cheer our lotC
It was a cherub in disguiseD
But yet our dim and earth bow'd eyesD
Perceiv'd it notC
-
Its voice was like the symphonyE
That lute strings lendF
Yet tho' our hearts the music hail'dG
As a sweet breath of heaven they fail'dG
To comprehendF
-
It linger'd till each season fill'dH
Their perfect roundI
The vernal bud the summer roseJ
Autumnal gold and wintry snowsJ
Whitening the groundI
-
But when again reviving SpringK
Thro' flowers would roamL
And the white cherry blossoms stirr'dM
Neath the soft wing of chirping birdM
A call from angel harps was heardM
Cherub come homeL
