Life's work well done how beautiful to rest | B |
Aye lift your little ones to see her face | C |
So calmly smiling in its coffin bed | D |
There is no wrinkle there no rigid gloom | E |
To make them turn their tender glance away | F |
And when they say their simple prayer at night | G |
With folded hands instruct their innocent lips | H |
Meekly to say Our Father may we live | I |
And die like her | J |
Her more than fourscore years | K |
Chill'd not in her the genial flow of thought | L |
Or energy of deed The earnest power | J |
To advance home happiness the kindly warmth | M |
Of social intercourse the sweet response | N |
Of filial love rejoicing in her joy | O |
And reverencing her saintly piety | P |
Were with her unimpair'd until the end | Q |
A course like this predicted close serene | R |
And so it was | S |
There came no cloud to dim | T |
Her spirit's light when at a beckoning brief | U |
She heavenward went | V |
Miss'd is she here and mourn'd | W |
From hall from hearthstone and from household board | X |
A beauty and a dignity have fled | D |
And the heart's tears as freely flowed for her | J |
As for the loved ones in their prime of days | Y |
Age justly held in honor hath a charm | Z |
Peculiarly its own a symmetry | P |
Of nearness to the skies | A2 |
And these were hers | B2 |
Whose life was duty and whose death was peace | C2 |
