Life's work well done how beautiful to restB
Aye lift your little ones to see her faceC
So calmly smiling in its coffin bedD
There is no wrinkle there no rigid gloomE
To make them turn their tender glance awayF
And when they say their simple prayer at nightG
With folded hands instruct their innocent lipsH
Meekly to say Our Father may we liveI
And die like herJ
Her more than fourscore yearsK
Chill'd not in her the genial flow of thoughtL
Or energy of deed The earnest powerJ
To advance home happiness the kindly warmthM
Of social intercourse the sweet responseN
Of filial love rejoicing in her joyO
And reverencing her saintly pietyP
Were with her unimpair'd until the endQ
A course like this predicted close sereneR
And so it wasS
There came no cloud to dimT
Her spirit's light when at a beckoning briefU
She heavenward wentV
Miss'd is she here and mourn'dW
From hall from hearthstone and from household boardX
A beauty and a dignity have fledD
And the heart's tears as freely flowed for herJ
As for the loved ones in their prime of daysY
Age justly held in honor hath a charmZ
Peculiarly its own a symmetryP
Of nearness to the skiesA2
And these were hersB2
Whose life was duty and whose death was peaceC2
