In Memoriam. - Harriet Allen Ely, Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCBBD BEFFE FGHHG FIFFI

Died at Providence Rhode Island April th aged years and monthsA
-
-
Seven blest years our darling daughterB
We have held thee to our heartsC
Every season growing dearerB
We have held thee near and nearerB
Never dreaming thus to partD
-
Seven brief years our only daughterB
Sweet has been the parent ruleE
Infant watch by cradle nightlyF
'Till we saw thy footsteps lightlyF
Tripping joyously to schoolE
-
Germ of promise bud of beautyF
To our tenderest nurture givenG
Not for our too dim beholdingH
Was thy fair and full unfoldingH
That perfection is in HeavenG
-
Earth no license had to harm theeF
Time no power to touch thy bloomI
Holy is our faith to meet theeF
Glorious is our trust to greet theeF
Far beyond the conquering tombI
