| Sorrow and Joy collude One mansion hears | B |
| The children shouting o'er their Christmas Tree | C |
| While in the next resound the widow's wail | D |
| And weeping of the fatherless So walk | E |
| Sickness and health One rounds the cheek at morn | F |
| The other with a ghost like movement glides | G |
| Unto the nightly couch and lo the wheels | H |
| Of life drive heavily and all its springs | I |
| Revolving in mysterious mechanism | J |
| Are troubled | K |
| And how slight the instrument | L |
| That sometimes sends the strong man to his tomb | M |
| Revealing that the glory of his prime | N |
| Is as the flower of grass | O |
| - | |
| Of this we thought | P |
| When looking on the face that lay so calm | Q |
| And comely in its narrow coffin bed | R |
| Remembering how the months of pain that sank | S |
| His manly vigor to an infant's sigh | T |
| Were met unmurmuringly | D |
| Dense was the throng | U |
| That gather'd to his obsequies and well | D |
| The Pastor's prayer of faith essayed to gird | V |
| The smitten hearts that whelm'd in sorrow mourn'd | W |
| Husband and sire whose ever watchful love | X |
| Guarded their happiness | Y |
| - | |
| Slowly moved on | Z |
| The long procession led by martial men | A2 |
| Who deeply in their patriot minds deplored | B2 |
| Their fallen compeer and bade music lay | D |
| With plaintive voice her chaplet down beside | C2 |
| His open grave | D2 |
| Then the first setting sun | E2 |
| Of our New Year cast off his wintry frown | F2 |
| And seemed to write in clear long lines of gold | G2 |
| Upon the whiten'd earth the glorious words | H2 |
| So shall the dead arise at the last trump | I2 |
| Sown here in weakness to be raised in power | J2 |
| Sown in corruption to put on the robes | K2 |
| Of immortality | C |
| Praise be to Him | L2 |
| Who gives through Christ our Lord to dying flesh | M2 |
| Such victory | C |
