The Sea Spirit Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAACC DEEDDCC FGGFFHH IJKIILL

I smile o'er the wrinkled blueA
Lo the sea is fairB
Smooth as the flow of a maiden's hairB
And the welkin's light shines throughA
Into mid sea caverns of beryl hueA
And the little waves laugh and the mermaids singC
And the sea is a beautiful sinuous thingC
-
I scowl in sullen guiseD
The sea grows dark and dunE
The swift clouds hide the sunE
But not the bale light in my eyesD
And the frightened wind as it fliesD
Ruffles the billows with stormy wingC
And the sea is a terrible treacherous thingC
-
When moonlight glimmers dimF
I pass in the path of the mistG
Like a pale spirit by spirits kissedG
At dawn I chant my own weird hymnF
And I dabble my hair in the sunset's rimF
And I call to the dwellers along the shoreH
With a voice of gramarye evermoreH
-
And if one for love of meI
Gives to my call an earJ
I will woo him and hold him dearK
And teach him the way of the seaI
And my glamor shall ever over him beI
Though he wander afar in the cities of menL
He will come at last to my arms againL
