Rain On The Hill Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBBBCCCBB DDECCEFFFGB HHIJJIKLLCC

Now on the hillA
The fitful wind is so stillA
That never a wimpling mist upliftsB
Nor a trembling leaf drop laden stirsB
From the ancient firsB
Aroma of balsam driftsB
And the silent places are filledC
With elusive odors distilledC
By the rain from asters empearled and frilledC
And a wild wet savor that dwellsB
Far adown in tawny fallows and bracken dellsB
-
Then with a rushD
Breaking the beautiful hushD
Where the only sound was the lisping lowE
Converse of raindrops or the dear soundC
Close to the groundC
That grasses make when they growE
Comes the wind in a gayF
Rollicking turbulent wayF
To winnow each bough and toss each sprayF
Piping and whistling in gleeG
With the vibrant notes of a merry minstrelsyB
-
The friendly rainH
Sings many a haunting strainH
Now of gladness and now of doleI
Anon of the glamor and the dreamJ
That ever seemJ
To wait on a pilgrim soulI
Yea we can hearK
The grief of an elder yearL
And laughter half forgotten and dearL
In the wind and the rain we findC
Fellowship meet for each change of mood or mindC
