Rain Along Shore Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCDD EEFFDD GGHHDD CCIJDD BBIIDD

Wan white mists upon the seaA
East wind harping mournfullyB
All the sunken reefs alongC
Wail and heart break in its songC
But adown the placid bayD
Fisher folk keep holidayD
-
All the deeps beyond the barE
Call and murmur from afarE
'Plaining of a mighty woeF
Where the great ships come and goF
But adown the harbor grayD
Fisher folk keep holidayD
-
When the cloudy heavens frownG
And the sweeping rain comes downG
Boats at anchorage must bideH
In despite of time or tideH
Making merry as they mayD
Fisher folk keep holidayD
-
Now is time for jest and songC
All the idle shore alongC
Now is time for wooing dearI
Maidens cannot choose but hearJ
Daffing toil and care awayD
Fisher folk keep holidayD
-
Oh the fretted reefs may wailB
Every man has furled his sailB
Oh the wind may moan in fearI
Every lad is with his dearI
Mirth and laughter have their wayD
Fisher folk keep holidayD
