Out O'doors Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCC DDEECC FFGGCC HHIIII

There's a gypsy wind across the harvest landA
Let us fare forth with it lightly hand in handA
Where cloud shadows blow across the sunwarm wasteB
And the first red leaves are falling let us hasteB
For the waning days are lavish of their storesC
And the joy of life is with us out o' doorsC
-
Let us roam along the ways of golden rodD
Over uplands where the spicy bracken nodD
Through the wildwood where the hemlock branches croonE
Their rune chant of elder days across the noonE
For the mellow air its pungency outpoursC
And the glory of the year is out o' doorsC
-
There's a great gray sea beyond us calling farF
There's a blue tide curling o'er the harbor barF
Ho the breeze that smites us saltly on the lipsG
Whistles gaily in the sails of outbound shipsG
Let us send our thoughts with them to fabled shoresC
For the pilgrim mood is on us out o' doorsC
-
Lo the world's rejoicing in each spirit thrillsH
Strength and gladness are to us upon the hillsH
We are one with crimson bough and ancient seaI
Holding all the joy of autumn hours in feeI
Hope within us like a questing bird upsoarsI
And there's room for song and laughter out o' doorsI

Richard Denney: this is a lovely evocative verse that stirs childhood memories and fires my imagination.
During lockdown 2020 these verses should be shared to cheer those residents all on isolation.
