On The Bay Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCCDD EFEFGGAA HIHIJJKK LFLFMMNN

When the salt wave laps on the long dim shoreA
And frets the reef with its windy salliesB
And the dawn's white light is threading once moreA
The purple firs in the landward valleysB
While yet the arms of the wide gray seaC
Are cradling the sunrise that is to beC
The fisherman's boat through the mist afarD
Has sailed in the wake of the morning starD
-
The wind in his cordage and canvas singsE
Its old glad song of strength and endeavorF
And up from the heart of the ocean ringsE
A call of courage and cheer foreverF
Toil and danger and stress may waitG
Beyond the arch of the morning's gateG
But he knows that behind him upon the shoreA
A true heart prays for him evermoreA
-
When a young moon floats in the hollow skyH
Like a fairy shallop all pale and goldenI
And over the rocks that are grim and highH
The lamp of the light house aloft is holdenI
When the bay is like to a lucent cupJ
With glamor and glory and glow filled upJ
In the track of the sunset across the foamK
The fisherman's boat comes sailing homeK
-
The wind is singing a low sweet songL
Of a rest well won and a toil well overF
And there on the shore shines clear and strongL
The star of the homelight to guide the roverF
And deep unto deep may call and wailM
But the fisherman laughs as he furls his sailM
For the bar is passed and the reef is dimN
And a true heart is waiting to welcome himN
