In An Old Town Garden Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFG HIJI KLML NOPO QRSR TUIU

Shut from the clamor of the streetA
By an old wall with lichen grownB
It holds apart from jar and fretC
A peace and beauty all its ownB
-
The freshness of the springtime rainsD
And dews of morning linger hereE
It holds the glow of summer noonsF
And ripest twilights of the yearG
-
Above its bloom the evening starsH
Look down at closing of the dayI
And in its sweet and shady walksJ
Winds spent with roaming love to strayI
-
Upgathering to themselves the breathK
Of wide blown roses white and redL
The spice of musk and lavenderM
Along its winding alleys shedL
-
Outside are shadeless troubled streetsN
And souls that quest for gold and gainO
Lips that have long forgot to smileP
And hearts that burn and ache with painO
-
But here is all the sweet of dreamsQ
The grace of prayer the boon of restR
The spirit of old songs and lovesS
Dwells in this garden blossom blestR
-
Here would I linger for a spaceT
And walk herein with memoryU
The world will pass me as it mayI
And hope will minister to meU
