Down Home Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE GHGH IJKJ LMGM

Down home to night the moonshine fallsA
Across a hill with daisies piedB
The pear tree by the garden gateC
Beckons with white arms like a brideB
-
A savor as of trampled fernD
Along the whispering meadow stirsE
And beacon of immortal loveF
A light is shining through the firsE
-
To my old gable window creepsG
The night wind with a sigh and songH
And weaving ancient sorceriesG
Thereto the gleeful moonbeams throngH
-
Beside the open kitchen doorI
My mother stands all lovinglyJ
And o'er the pathways of the darkK
She sends a yearning thought to meJ
-
It seeks and finds my answering heartL
Which shall no more be peace possessedM
Until I reach her empty armsG
And lay my head upon her breastM
