To My Mother Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EDED FGFH IJIJ KKKK

Yes I have sung of others' woesA
Until they almost seem'd mine ownB
And fancy oft will scenes discloseA
Whose being was in thought aloneB
-
Her magic power I've cherished longC
And yielded to her soothing swayD
Enchanting is her syren songC
And wild and wond'rous is her wayD
-
But thou whene'er I think on theeE
Those glittering visions fade awayD
My soul awakens how tenderlyE
To pleasures that can ne'er decayD
-
There's not an hour of life goes byF
But makes thee still more firmly dearG
My sighs attend upon thy sighF
My sorrows wait upon thy tearH
-
For earth has nought so good so pureI
That may compare with love like thineJ
Long as existence shall endureI
Thy star of guiding love shall shineJ
-
O'er other stars dark clouds may lowerK
And from our path their light may severK
They lived to bless us but an hourK
But thine shall live to bless us everK
