To A False Friend Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCC DEDEFD GHGHII GHGJAK GLGLAA

Adieu 'tis past the dream is overA
And we are friends no moreB
And now my task shall be to smotherA
Thoughts prized too well beforeB
That we have ever loved or metC
All but our parting to forgetC
-
-
Thou the first friend my heart had chosenD
Whose wish whose hope was mineE
Farewell the once warm vows are frozenD
That lured my fate to thineE
Each link of that bright chain is goneF
That bound our mutual hearts in oneD
-
-
I will not blame my soul's believingG
That ne'er thy faults could seeH
The error was thy own deceivingG
Not mine who trusted theeH
This heart can never learn to fearI
Deceit in one it holds so dearI
-
-
How could I hear without relyingG
Thy lute's wild melodyH
Though false as Echo's voice replyingG
To some lone wand'rer's cryJ
Unworthy as the scentless flowerA
Whose beauty is its only dowerK
-
-
Of all the moments since our meetingG
When both seem'd fond and trueL
Now thou art cold as they were fleetingG
Be this my last reviewL
No more our hearts our fates must severA
And I erase thy name for everA
