The Past Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBCDED FGGHIJ KLMN OO LPLQRS

Oh how sad the recollection in the midst of joy itA
springsB
What a train of faded pleasures that fond idea bringsB
All those hours are gone for ever they were sweet butC
pass'd awayD
Like the sunny clouds that vanish in the midst of dyingE
dayD
-
I have number'd all the sorrows this tortured heart hasF
knownG
I have counted each delight I would ever call my ownG
But the moments are so woven that the guiding clew isH
goneI
And the sorrow and the pleasure blended into oneJ
-
That one oh when we parted it was glittering in thatK
tearL
That one 'twas in the accents that told we both wereM
dearN
-
-
It dwelt in those fond glances too fleet too early pastO
It lived in that embrace the tenderest the lastO
-
The last oh in that word there are ages of despairL
No summer thought of brightness can dwell untroubledP
thereL
Yet my soul was in that moment so fraught with joy andQ
painR
And ' tis only recollection can give back the soul againS
