'Tis eve the sun is sinking in the lakeA
-
The lake all glorious with his golden beamsB
-
Whose calm clear breast reflects the mountains backC
-
That raise their huge heads to the varied cloudsD
-
The trees and flowers that grow along its banksE
-
Smile in the lucid mirror Every boughF
-
Is vocal with the song of glittering birdsG
-
Whose plumes are borrow'd from the rainbow's huesH
-
No other sound disturbs the silent airI
-
Although a prostrate nation is aroundJ
-
Watching the last rays of the setting sunK
-
In solemn and in graceful adorationK
-
-
The purple clouds grow deeper deeper stillL
-
Till the resplendent orb is seen no moreM
-
-
But where he sunk upon the bright lake's marginK
-
Appear two forms majestic and erectN
-
Cloth'd in rich garments hand in handO
-
They comeP
-
Onward they come across the yielding watersQ
-
That give them passageR
-
Now they reach the shoreM
-
While with glad shouts the people rend the skiesS
-
All hail ye mighty Children of the SunK
