| The blackbird breathes a sweet reply | F |
| The lark's shrill fairy notes awake | E |
| The echoes of his native sky | F |

| The pale wild rose is blushing near | G |
| And clinging tendrils round it twine | H |
| That throw their gay and graceful wreaths | I |
| In many a varied waving line | H |

| There tremble on the slender stem | J |
| The barley's rich and bending heads | K |
| And here the pea in winged bloom | L |
| Along the air its fragrance sheds | K |

| I cannot smile though all the scene | C |
| Is gay in Nature's brightest guise | M |
| I think on hours that once have been | N |
| And clouds o'er all the landscape rise | M |

| The fatal power of grief destroy | P |
| Ah no in vain each beauty glows | O |
