Against Constancy Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH IJIK

Tell me no more of constancyA
The frivolous pretenseB
Of old age narrow jealousyA
Disease and want of senseB
-
Let duller fools on whom kind chanceC
Some easy heart has thrownD
Despairing higher to advanceC
Be kind to one aloneD
-
Old men and weak whose idle flameE
Their own defects discoversF
Since changing can but spread their shameE
Ought to be constant loversF
-
But we whose hearts do justly swellG
With no vainglorious prideH
Who know how we in love excelG
Long to be often triedH
-
Then bring my bath and strew my bedI
As each kind night returnsJ
I'll change a mistress till I'm deadI
And fate change me for wormsK
