Fiat Lux Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCAACCADEEDED

Then that dread angel near the awful throneA
Leaving the seraphs ranged in flaming tiersB
Winged his dark way through those unpinioned spheresC
And on the void's black beetling edge aloneA
Stood with raised wings and listened for the toneA
Of God's command to reach his eager earsC
While Chaos wavered for she felt her yearsC
Unsceptered now in that convulsive zoneA
Night trembled And as one hath oft beheldD
A lamp within a vase light up its gloomE
So God's voice lighted him from heel to plumeE
Let there be light It said and Darkness quelledD
Shrunk noiseless backward in her monstrous wombE
Through vasts unwinnowed by the wings of eldD
