blown between our lips | B |
can send him home to us | C |
then silence is perhaps | D |
the sound of spiders breathing | E |
and roots mining the earth | F |
it may be asparagus heaving | E |
headfirst into the light | G |
and the long brown sound | H |
of cracked cups when it happens | I |
We would like to ask the dog | J |
if there is a continuous whir | K |
because the child in the house | L |
keeps growing if the snake | M |
really stretches full length | N |
without a click and the sun | O |
breaks through clouds without | P |
a decibel of effort | Q |
whether in autumn when the trees | R |
dry up their wells there isn't a shudder | K |
too high for us to hear | K |
- | |
What is it like up there | K |
above the shut off level | A |
of our simple ears | S |
For us there was no birth cry | K |
the newborn bird is suddenly here | K |
the egg broken the nest alive | T |
and we heard nothing when the world changed | U |
