Another Version Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBCDBEFBBGHEIJAKLMB NEBO

Our trees are aspens but peopleA
mistake them for birchesB
they think of us as charactersB
in a Russian novel Kitty and LevinC
living contentedly in the countryD
Our friends from the city watch the birdsB
and rabbits feeding togetherE
on top of the deep white snowF
We have Russian winters in IllinoisB
but no sleighbells possums instead of wolvesB
no trusted servants to do our workG
As in a Russian play an old manH
lives in our house he is my fatherE
he lets go of life in such slow motionI
year after year that the griefJ
is stuck inside me a poisoned appleA
that won't go up or downK
But like the three sisters we rarely speakL
of what keeps us awake at nightM
like them we complain about thingsB
that don't really matter and talkN
of our pleasures and of the futureE
we tell each other the willowsB
are early this year hazy with greenO
