The Sea-shore Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCDDEF GGHHIIJE KKBBLLMM NNAAOAPP

I SHOULD like to dwell where the deep blue seaA
Rock'd to and fro as tranquillyB
As if it were willing the halcyon's nestC
Should shelter through summer its beautiful guestC
When a plaining murmur like that of a songD
And a silvery line come the waves alongD
Now bathing now leaving the gentle shoreE
Where shining sea shells lay scattered o'erF
-
And children wandering along the strandG
With the eager eye and the busy handG
Heaping the pebbles and green sea weedH
Like treasures laid up for a time of needH
Or tempting the waves with their daring feetI
To launch perhaps some tiny fleetI
Mimicking those which bear afarJ
The wealth of trade and the strength of warE
-
I should love when the sun set reddened the foamK
To watch the fisherman's boat come homeK
With his well filled net and glittering spoilB
Well has the noon tide repaid its toilB
While the ships that lie in the distance awayL
Catch on their canvass the crimsoning rayL
Like fairy ships in the tales of oldM
When the sails they spread were purple and goldM
-
Then the deep delight of the starry nightN
With its shadowy depths and dreamy lightN
When far away spreads the boundless seaA
As if it imaged infinityA
Let me hear the winds go singing byO
Lulling the waves with their melodyA
While the moon like a mother watches their sleepP
And I ask no home but beside the deepP
