Hebe Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCC DEDFGG DHDHIJ KLKLDD MNONKP

YOUTH thou art a lovely timeA
With thy wild and dreaming eyesB
Looking onwards to their primeA
Coloured by their April skiesB
Yet I do not wish for theeC
Pass oh quickly pass from meC
-
Thou hast all too much unrestD
Haunted by vain hopes and fearsE
Though thy cheeks with smiles be drestD
Yet that cheek is wet with tearsF
Bitter are the frequent showersG
Falling in thy sunny hoursG
-
Let my heart grow calm and coldD
Calm to sorrow cold to loveH
Let affections loose their holdD
Let my spirit look aboveH
I am weary youth pass onI
All thy dearest gifts are goneJ
-
She in whose sweet form the GreekK
Bade his loveliest vision dwellL
She of yon bright cup and cheekK
From her native heaven fellL
Type of what may never lastD
Soon the heaven of youth is pastD
-
Oh farewell for never moreM
Can thy dreams again be mineN
Hope and truth and faith are o'erO
And the heart which was their shrineN
Has no boon of thee to seekK
Asking but to rest or breakP
