Cafes In Damascus Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GAGA CHCH IJKJ LMLM

LANGUIDLY the night wind blowethA
From the gardens roundB
Where the clear Barrada flowethA
With a lulling soundB
-
Not the lute note's sweet shiverC
Can such music findD
As is on a wandering riverC
On a wandering windD
-
There the Moslem leaneth dreamingE
O'er the inward worldF
While around the fragrant steamingE
Of the smoke is curledF
-
Rising from the coffee berryG
Dark grape of the SouthA
Or the pipe of polished cherryG
With its amber mouthA
-
Cooled by passing through the waterC
Gurgling as it flowsH
Scented by the Summer's daughterC
June's impassioned roseH
-
By that rose's spirit hauntedI
Are the dreams that riseJ
Of far lands and lives enchantedK
And of deep black eyesJ
-
Thus with some sweet dream's assistanceL
Float they down life's streamM
Would to heaven our whole existenceL
Could be such a dreamM
