Why did I stay?, they ask.
I stayed because I was
cajoled by his words,
manipulated by the love
I had for him.
I stayed because I had hope
he would change,that he would
never hurt me again.
They kept telling me to leave
him, but I didn't listen I was
impetuous and demented.
I was in fear of losing him
forever.
But as I kept on being
persistent, he crafted more
bruises on my body and in
my heart.
I became fed up of being
manacled, beaten up and
mistreated because I was
vulnerable.
So I fought back and put
my love for him aside, I survived.
