Good Night. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH IJKJ LBLB

O slumber on untaught to feelA
The weight of care and sorrow's blightB
Here have I often loved to stealA
And o'er thee breathe a soft good nightB
-
And gentle as thy beauty's rayC
Be all the visions of thy dreamsD
Thy years be joyous as to dayC
And life be always what it seemsD
-
Ah may it ne'er be thine to knowE
The sleepless eye the tossing headF
May He above ordain it soE
And guardian angels shield thy bedF
-
Now o'er thy cheek the smile betraysG
Some sweetness in thy dreaming eyeH
Alas that thou must wake and gazeG
On things that cause thy breast a sighH
-
So placid is thy pillow hereI
'Tis sweet indeed to know thy peaceJ
To smoothe thy locks and drop a tearK
To clasp a hand I must releaseJ
-
Ah dost thou dream of me we partL
While summer tints thy childhood's lightB
I leave thee with an aching heartL
While angels sing Good night Good nightB
