Ah, Hast Thou Gone? Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBB CDCD EFEF BGBG HBHB

Ah hast thou gone from him whose breastA
Bleeds with the thought we are apartB
Whose tears fall vainly and unblestB
Whose all a crushed a broken heartB
-
Thou hastenest on Life's thorny wayC
Where torrid suns the mountains burnD
Where parch the thirsty plains yet sayC
Oh say thou wilt to me returnD
-
Beyond the rolling wave art thouE
O'er which I waft a sigh to theeF
Beyond the lurid sunset nowE
Ablaze upon the western seaF
-
Oh think of him whose only thoughtB
That thought which Friendship cannot tellG
While flows the burning tear unsoughtB
He loved alas he loved too wellG
-
Farewell to thee than whom all joyH
No brighter vision e'er can lendB
Go he will be to thee my boyH
A brother more than that a friendB
