Written At Lovere, October, 1736 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACCACADD

If age and sickness poverty and painA
Should each assault me with alternate plaguesB
I know mankind is destin'd to complainA
And I submit to torment and fatiguesC
The pious farmer who ne'er misses pray'rsC
With patience suffers unexpected rainA
He blesses Heav'n for what its bounty sparesC
And sees resign'd a crop of blighted grainA
But spite of sermons farmers would blasphemeD
If a star fell to set their thatch on flameD
