To Mr. ------ Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBAACCCDDEFGGHIJJK KLLLMMNN

For ever blest be that prolific brainA
Which can such stores of images containA
Thus the charg'd trees with blooming odours crown'dB
Shed their fair blossoms with profusion roundB
So swells the brook with heav'n descended rainA
And flows meand'ring on thirsty plainA
Such various talents were by Heav'n design'dC
Too vast a treasure for a single mindC
To please astonish and instruct mankindC
With a delight not to be told I viewD
Themes long exhausted in your hands grow newD
Past all describing your descriptions areE
So full so just so bold yet regularF
The style so varied that it wants a nameG
Which ever differing ever is the sameG
You raise or calm our passions as you pleaseH
The human heart your powerful pen obeysI
When eager Trasimond pursues the courseJ
We hear the whip and see the foaming horseJ
With Sophronia we have wept and smil'dK
So soon offended sooner reconcil'dK
Go on great author that the world may seeL
How bright when from pedantic fetters freeL
True genius shines and shines alone in theeL
Give new editions with a noble scornM
Of insect critics who'd obscure thy mornM
Neglect their censures nor thy work delayN
The owls still sicken at the sight of dayN
