Salvation Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCBC ADADAAEEFFFFGEHEFAFA

When the gloom is deepest round theeA
When the bands of grief have bound theeA
And in loneliness and sorrowB
By the poisoned springs of lifeC
Thou sittest yearning for a morrowB
That will free thee from the strifeC
-
Look not upward for above theeA
Never sun or star is gleamingD
Look not round for one to love theeA
Put not faith in mortal seemingD
Lightly would they scorn then leave theeA
Trust not man he will deceive theeA
But in the depths of thy own soulE
Descend mysterious powers unrollE
Energies that long had slumberedF
In its mystic depths unnumberedF
Speak the word the power divinestF
Will awake if thou inclinestF
Thou art lord in thine own kingdomG
Rule thyself thou rulest allE
Smile when from its proud dominionH
Earthly joy will rudely fallE
Be true unto thyself and hear notF
Evil thoughts that would enslave theeA
God is in thee Mortal fear notF
Trust in Him and He will save theeA
