I was the flame that waitedA
while you danced with shadowsB
the open handC
you mistook for emptinessD

You broke meE
not with fistsF
but with silenceG
with the way you looked pastH
everything I gaveI
as if it were airJ

I became the echoK
of a name you never calledL
a prayer unansweredM
a seat left coldN
in the temple of your heartO
-
You made me unchosenP
as if love were a lotteryE
and I held the wrong ticketQ
But I was never a numberR
I was the stormS
the sunriseT
the poem you ll never writeU
because you feared its truthV

Now I riseT
not to be chosenP
but to choose myselfW
To gather the piecesX
you left scatteredM
and build a crownP
from the wreckageY

Poet's note: I wrote it on a certain date I wish to not remember; I wanted to feel the need to speak but through language that only few could understand. It means me calling out to the old me, which I lost sadly.
