| Stemmed from the same root | B |
| Branch out in two different directions | C |
| In a race to catch the light that lights all that live | D |
| These two must stretch out their leaves | E |
| to catch every ray of opportunity grinning at them | F |

| independent of each other | G |

| Would they live forever apart | H |

Poet's note: In intertwined, King Davey speaks of his relationship with his long time friend, Ayomide Nejo.
He likens their lives to that of two branches coming out from the same root but growing away in different directions.
He ends the poem with a sought of prayer:
That by some chance they'd be more than they are already. That they would be lovers.
