Part One The CallingA
-
-
Let me sleep for my soul is intoxicated with love andB
Let me rest for my spirit has had its bounty of days and nightsC
Light the candles and burn the incense around my bed andB
Scatter leaves of jasmine and roses over my bodyD
Embalm my hair with frankincense and sprinkle my feet with perfumeE
And read what the hand of Death has written on my foreheadF
-
-
Let me rest in the arms of Slumber for my open eyes are tiredG
Let the silver stringed lyre quiver and soothe my spiritH
Weave from the harp and lute a veil around my withering heartI
-
-
Sing of the past as you behold the dawn of hope in my eyes forJ
It's magic meaning is a soft bed upon which my heart restsK
-
-
Dry your tears my friends and raise your heads as the flowersL
Raise their crowns to greet the dawnM
Look at the bride of Death standing like a column of lightN
Between my bed and the infiniteH
Hold your breath and listen with me to the beckoning rustle ofO
Her white wingsP
-
-
Come close and bid me farewell touch my eyes with smiling lipsQ
Let the children grasp my hands with soft and rosy fingersL
Let the ages place their veined hands upon my head and bless meD
Let the virgins come close and see the shadow of God in my eyesR
And hear the echo of His will racing with my breathS

Part Two The AscendingA
-
-
I have passed a mountain peak and my soul is soaring in theT
Firmament of complete and unbound freedomU
I am far far away my companions and the clouds areV
Hiding the hills from my eyesR
The valleys are becoming flooded with an ocean of silence and theT
Hands of oblivion are engulfing the roads and the housesW
The prairies and fields are disappearing behind a white specterX
That looks like the spring cloud yellow as the candlelightN
And red as the twilightN
-
-
The songs of the waves and the hymns of the streamsY
Are scattered and the voices of the throngs reduced to silenceZ
And I can hear naught but the music of EternityD
In exact harmony with the spirit's desiresL
I am cloaked in full whitenessA2
I am in comfort I am in peaceB2

Part Three The RemainsC2
-
-
Unwrap me from this white linen shroud and clothe meD
With leaves of jasmine and liliesD2
Take my body from the ivory casket and let it restE2
Upon pillows of orange blossomsF2
Lament me not but sing songs of youth and joyG2
Shed not tears upon me but sing of harvest and the winepressF2
Utter no sigh of agony but draw upon my face with yourJ
Finger the symbol of Love and JoyG2
Disturb not the air's tranquility with chanting and requiemsF2
But let your hearts sing with me the song of Eternal LifeH2
Mourn me not with apparel of blackI2
But dress in color and rejoice with meD
Talk not of my departure with sighs in your hearts closeF2
Your eyes and you will see me with you forevermoreJ
-
-
Place me upon clusters of leaves andB
Carry my upon your friendly shoulders andB
Walk slowly to the deserted forestJ2
Take me not to the crowded burying ground lest my slumberJ
Be disrupted by the rattling of bones and skullsF2
Carry me to the cypress woods and dig my grave where violetsF2
And poppies grow not in the other's shadowK2
Let my grave be deep so that the flood will notL2
Carry my bones to the open valleyD
Let my grace be wide so that the twilight shadowsF2
Will come and sit by meD
-
-
Take from me all earthly raiment and place me deep in myM2
Mother Earth and place me with care upon my mother's breastE2
Cover me with soft earth and let each handful be mixedN2
With seeds of jasmine lilies and myrtle and when theyO2
Grow above me and thrive on my body's element they willP2
Breathe the fragrance of my heart into spaceF2
And reveal even to the sun the secret of my peaceF2
And sail with the breeze and comfort the wayfarerJ
-
-
Leave me then friends leave me and depart on mute feetQ2
As the silence walks in the deserted valleyD
Leave me to God and disperse yourselves slowly as the almondB
And apple blossoms disperse under the vibration of Nisan's breezeF2
Go back to the joy of your dwellings and you will find thereJ
That which Death cannot remove from you and meD
Leave with place for what you see here is far away in meaningA
From the earthly world Leave meD
