On Pain Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AB AC DEF GHA DI J KL MM NO AAA

Your pain is the breaking of the shell that enclosesA
your understandingB
-
Even as the stone of the fruit must break that itsA
heart may stand in the sun so must you know painC
-
And could you keep your heart in wonder at theD
daily miracles of your life your pain would not seemE
less wondrous than your joyF
-
And you would accept the seasons of your heartG
even as you have always accepted the seasons thatH
pass over your fieldsA
-
And you would watch with serenity through theD
winters of your griefI
-
Much of your pain is self chosenJ
-
It is the bitter potion by which the physician withinK
you heals your sick selfL
-
Therefore trust the physician and drink his remedyM
in silence and tranquillityM
-
For his hand though heavy and hard is guided byN
the tender hand of the UnseenO
-
And the cup he brings though it burn your lips hasA
been fashioned of the clay which the Potter hasA
moistened with His own sacred tearsA
