Rhyme Scheme: ABCD E FGHI AJ F KLMN OFPQ PE RP SFT FE RDUVW P

I would not exchange the sorrows of my heartA
For the joys of the multitudeB
And I would not have the tears that sadness makesC
To flow from my every part turn into laughterD
-
I would that my life remain a tear and a smileE
-
A tear to purify my heart and give me understandingF
Of life's secrets and hidden thingsG
A smile to draw me nigh to the sons of my kind andH
To be a symbol of my glorification of the godsI
-
A tear to unite me with those of broken heartA
A smile to be a sign of my joy in existenceJ
-
I would rather that I died in yearning and longing than that I live Weary and despairingF
-
I want the hunger for love and beauty to be in theK
Depths of my spirit for I have seen those who areL
Satisfied the most wretched of peopleM
I have heard the sigh of those in yearning and Longing and it is sweeter than the sweetest melodyN
-
With evening's coming the flower folds her petalsO
And sleeps embracingher longingF
At morning's approach she opens her lips to meetP
The sun's kissQ
-
The life of a flower is longing and fulfilmentP
A tear and a smileE
-
The waters of the sea become vapor and rise and comeR
Together and area cloudP
-
And the cloud floats above the hills and valleysS
Until it meets the gentle breeze then falls weepingF
To the fields and joins with brooks and rivers to Return to the sea its homeT
-
The life of clouds is a parting and a meetingF
A tear and a smileE
-
And so does the spirit become separated fromR
The greater spirit to move in the world of matterD
And pass as a cloud over the mountain of sorrowU
And the plains of joy to meet the breeze of deathV
And return whence it cameW
-
To the ocean of Love and Beauty to GodP
