Rhyme Scheme: AB CA DE FG HIJK

The deer is humble lovely as God made herA
I watch her eyes and think of wonder ownedB
-
These strange priests enter the cathedral of woodsC
And seven Marys clean their hands to woo herA
-
Foot lifted dagger sharp her earsD
Poised to their points like a leaf's headE
-
But the snake strikes in a velvet arcF
Of murderous speed assassin beautifulG
-
As mountain water at which a fawn drankH
Stand there forever while poison worksI
While I stand counting the arms of your CrossJ
Thinking that many Christs could hang there cryingK
