Tonight I'll be away into the belly of uncharted forestsA
when the moon sells her hot papB
to the hungry mouth of starsC
listen to my falling words dear wifeD
keep my children tightly within the warmthE
Of your broadest wrappersF

feed Alani with tales of lizardsG
running across the dim laternH
nodding his orange headI
as a memorable rainH
probe the house roof with watersF
-
For I'll return in the morningJ
with shoulders dripping with meatsK
-
tell Asake not to sleep on mat of fearL
tell her not to count the shadows likeM
bangles on the neckN
For I'll return in the morningJ
with happiness in the pouchO
and the legs of dead antelopeP
carried across my head and shouldersF
