Shells Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFG HIJKLMNJO JPJQ

Reaching down arm deep into bright waterA
I gathered on white sand under wavesB
Shells drifted up on beaches where I aloneC
Inhabit a finite world of years and daysD
I reached my arm down a myriad yearsE
To gather treasure from the yester milliennial sea floorF
Held in my fingers forms shaped on the day of creationG
-
Building their beauty in three dimensionsH
Over which the world recedes away from usI
And in the fourth that takes away ourselvesJ
From moment to moment and from year to yearK
From first to last they remain in their continuous presentL
The helix revolves like a timeless thoughtM
Instantaneous from apex to rimN
Like a dance whose figure is limpet or murexJ
cowrie or golden winkleO
-
They sleep on the ocean floor like humming topsJ
Whose music is the mother of pearl octave of the rainbowP
Harmonious shells that whisper forever in our earsJ
The world that you inhabit has not yet been createdQ
