Written In A Cemetery Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Stay yet awhile oh flowers oh wandering grassesA
And creeping ferns and climbing clinging vinesB
Bend down and cover with lush odorous massesA
My darling's couch where he in sleep reclinesB
-
Stay yet awhile let not the chill OctoberC
Plant spires of glinting frost about his bedD
Nor shower her faded leaves so brown and soberC
Among the tuberoses above his headD
-
I would have all things fair and sweet and tenderC
The daisy's pearl the cowslip's shield of snowE
And fragrant hyacinths in purple splendourC
About my darling's grassy couch to growC
-
Oh birds small pilgrims of the summer weatherC
Come hither for my darling loved ye wellF
Here floats the thistle down for you to gatherC
And bearded grasses ripen in the dellF
-
Here pipe and plume your wings and chirp and flutterC
And swing light poised upon the pendant boughG
Fondly I deem he hears the calls ye utterC
And stirs in his light sleep to answer youH
-
Oh wind that blows through hours of nights and lonelyI
Oh rain that sobs against my window paneJ
Ye beat upon my heart which beats but onlyI
To clasp and shelter my lost lamb againK
-
Peace peace my soul I know that in anotherC
And brighter land my darling walks and waitsL
Where we shall surely meet and clasp each otherC
Beyond the threshold of the shining gatesL
