Verses Written In Mary's Album Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE AGFG HIAI JKLK MNON PGQG

In your beautiful book dear MaryA
With pages so white and fairB
I pause ere I trace the first sentenceC
And thoughtfully breathe a prayerB
-
That in the dew of the morningD
Ere the shadows begin to fallE
You may turn with a child's devotionF
To the Book that is best of allE
-
And learn with the gentle MaryA
At the Saviour's feet to stayG
And to choose that better portionF
Which shall never be taken awayG
-
Ah lovely and thrice belovedH
Sitting at Jesus' feetI
In the shady walks of BethanyA
And the summer twilight sweetI
-
With the thrilling palms and the olivesJ
Listening overheadK
To that wonderful voice whose musicL
Had power to waken the deadK
-
Even thus through life's grave shadowed valleysM
We may walk with that Heavenly FriendN
With a child's loving faith in His promiseO
To be with us unto the endN
-
So I ask for my Mary not grandeurP
Nor the wealth nor the fame of the dayG
But that which the world cannot give herQ
The peace which it takes not awayG
