To The Daughter Of The Author Of "violet Keith." Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEEEFFGGAAHHI JKKLL

I never looked upon thy faceA
I never saw thy dwelling placeA
My home is by Lake Erie's shoreB
Beyond Niagara's distant roarB
And thine where ships at anchor rideC
By fair St Lawrence's rolling tideC
With half a continent betweenD
Its seas of blue and isles of greenD
And many a mountain's nodding crestE
And many a valley's jewelled breastE
Thou in the east I in the westE
Yet in this book thou hast to meF
An individualityF
Something more tangible and fairG
Than any dream or shape of airG
With more than an ideal graceA
And sweeter than a pictured faceA
For in this book my thought recallsH
The garden quaint the convent wallsH
And thou beneath their shadow setI
A blue eyed fragrant violetJ
So for the maiden of the taleK
Whose brave true heart might break not failK
Thyself my Violet I makeL
And love thee for thy mother's sakeL
