Te Deum Laudamus Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDD EEEE FFGH EEHH IIEE

Along the floors of heaven the music rollsA
Fills the vast dome and lifts our fainting soulsA
Praise God Oh praise Him all created thingsB
Praise Him the Lord of lords the King of kingsB
-
Slow pulses coursing darkly undergroundC
Leap up in leaf and blossom at the soundC
Shake out glad pennons in remotest waysD
And with a thousand voices utter praiseD
-
Along the southern hills the verdure creepsE
And faint green foliage clothes the craggy steepsE
Where in the sunshine lie reposing herdsE
Whose gladness has no need of spoken wordsE
-
In the deep woods there is a voice which saithF
The Lord is risen there shall be no more deathF
Listen Oh Man and thy dull ears shall hearG
The Easter Anthem of the awakened yearH
-
Past isles of emerald moss the brooklet flowsE
Melodious and rejoicing as it goesE
Past drooping ferns and through the mazy whirH
Of insect wings of gold and gossamerH
-
Praise God they whisper softly each to eachI
Waves have a voice and trees and stones a speechI
Day unto day the chant of birds and breezeE
And man alone is dumb nor hears nor seesE
