May Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABBCBACA DEEFEDGDThou comest to the year | A |
And bringest all things beautiful and sweet | B |
Thy lovely miracles themselves repeat | B |
In the green glory of the grass | C |
And peeping flowers that stay our lingering feet | B |
With their soft eyes blue like the sky and clear | A |
Thou bringest not alas | C |
Our lily our May blossom O New Year | A |
- | |
Thou bringest all things fair | D |
And bright and gentle but thou bring'st not her | E |
The May birds warble and May breezes stir | E |
In the sweet scented lilac boughs | F |
But our one May our gentlest minister | E |
Of gladness with the beauty of her hair | D |
Her place in our still house | G |
Is empty and the world is bleak and bare | D |
