Marguerite Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBA CCAAA CCAAA DEFFA CCAAA EEGGA

Marguerite oh MargueriteA
Thy sleep is sound and still and sweetA
Framed in the pale gold of thy hairB
Thy face is like an angel's fairB
Marguerite oh MargueriteA
-
Tender curves of cheek and lipsC
Sweet eyes hid in long eclipseC
Pale robes flowing to thy feetA
Folded hands that lightly meetA
Marguerite oh MargueriteA
-
Sleep'st thou still the world awakesC
Still the echo swells and breaksC
Over field and wood and streetA
Easter anthems throb and beatA
Marguerite oh MargueriteA
-
Christ the Lord is risen againD
Hear'st thou not the glad refrainE
Have those gentle lips no breathF
Smiling in the trance of deathF
Marguerite oh MargueriteA
-
In the grave from whence He roseC
Lay thee to thy long reposeC
Sweet with myrrh and spices sweetA
With the footprints of His feetA
Marguerite oh MargueriteA
-
Where His sacred head hath lainE
Thine may rest secure from painE
While the circling years go roundG
Without motion without soundG
Marguerite oh MargueriteA
