Forgotten Songs Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCABCDEFDEGHI

There is a splendid tropic flower which flingsA
Its fiery disc wide open to the coreB
One pulse of subtlest fragrance once a lifeC
That rounds a century of blossoming thingsA
And dies a flower's apotheosis nevermoreB
To send up in the sunshine in sweet strifeC
With all the winds a fountain of live flameD
A winged censer in the starlight swungE
Once only flinging all its wealth abroadF
To the wide deserts without shore or nameD
And dying like a lovely song once sungE
By some dead poet music's wandering ghostG
Aeons ago blown oat of life and lostH
Remembered only in the heart of GodI
