Envoi Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAC DEDE FGHG IJIJ KLKL MNMN

A little bird woke singing in the nightA
Dreaming of coming dayB
And piped for very fulness of delightA
His little roundelayC
-
Dreaming he heard the wood lark's carol loudD
Down calling to his mateE
Like silver rain out of a golden cloudD
At morning's radiant gateE
-
And all for joy of his embowering woodsF
And dewy leaves he sungG
The summer sunshine and the summer floodsH
By forest flowers o'erhungG
-
Thou shalt not hear those wild and sylvan notesI
When morn's full chorus poursJ
Rejoicing from a thousand feathered throatsI
And the lark sings and soarsJ
-
Oh poet of our glorious land so fairK
Whose foot is at the doorL
Even so my song shall melt into the airK
And die and be no moreL
-
But thou shalt live part of the nation's lifeM
The world shall hear thy voiceN
Singing above the noise of war and strifeM
And therefore I rejoiceN
