Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFGFHBHB HIHIJKJK LMLMNONO PMPMPPPP QRQRSBSB

The lily bells ring undergroundA
Their music small I hearB
When globes of dew that shine pearl roundA
Hang in the cowslip's earB
And all the summer blooms and spraysC
Are sheathed from the sunD
And yet I feel in many waysC
Their living pulses runD
-
The crowning rose of summer timeE
Lies folded on its stemF
Its bright urn holds no honey wineG
Its brow no diademF
And yet my soul is inly thrilledH
As if I stood anearB
Some legal presence unrevealedH
The queen of all the yearB
-
Oh Rose dear Rose the mist and dewH
Uprising from the lakeI
And sunshine glancing warmly throughH
Have kissed the flowers awakeI
The orchard blooms are dropping balmJ
The tulip's gorgeous cupK
More slender than a desert palmJ
It's chalice lifteth upK
-
The birds are mated in the treesL
The wan stars burn and paleM
Oh Rose come forth upon the breezeL
I hear the nightingaleM
Unfold the crimson waves that lieN
In darkness rosy dimO
And swing thy fragrant censer highN
Oh royal Rose for himO
-
The hyacinths are in the fieldsP
With purple splendours paleM
Their sweet bells ring responsive pealsP
To every passing galeM
And violets bending in the grassP
Do hide their glowing eyesP
When those enchanting voices passP
Like airs from ParadiseP
-
We crowned our blushing Queen of MayQ
Long since with dance and tuneR
But the merry world of yesterdayQ
Is lapsing into JuneR
Thou art not here we look in vainS
Oh Rose arise appearB
Resume thine emerald throne and reignS
The queen of all the yearB
