Air The Fierce DischargeB

In the late rebellion warC
Grand Rapids did send outD
As brave and noble volunteersE
As ever went down southF
Among them were the brave Page boysG
Five brothers there were in allH
They enlisted and went down southF
To obey their country's callH

John S Page was the eldest sonI
He went down south afarJ
And enlisted in the MechanicsK
And served his time in the warC
Fernando Page the second sonI
Served in the InfantryL
He was wounded lost both his feetM
On duty at Yorktown siegeN

Charles F Page was a noble sonI
In sixty four did enlistO
And in the same year he was killedP
In the fight of the WildernessQ
This brave boy was carrying the flagR
To cheer his comrades onS
He fought in the Eight InfantryL
Now he brave boy is goneT

'Tis said of this brave soldier boyU
'Twas just before he diedV
Stood the flag standard in the groundW
Laid down by it and diedV
The friends that loved this noble boyU
How sad were they to hearX
Of his death on a battle fieldY
His age was twenty yearsE

He went in the artilleryL
He served his time with all the restA2
To keep his country freeL
Enos Page the youngest brotherB2
Made five sons in one familyL
Went from Grand Rapids hereX
His age was fourteen yearsE

When Enos Page went from his homeC2
He was only a boy you knowD2
He stole away from his mother dearE2
For he was bound to goD2
She followed him to the barracks twiceF2
And took him home againG2
She found it was no use at lastH2
With friends let him remainI2

In Eight Michigan CavalryL
This boy he did enlistO
His life was almost despaired ofJ2
On account of numerous fitsK2
Caused by drinking water poisonedL2
Effects cannot outgrowD2
In northern Alabama I hearX
There came this dreadful blowD2

How joyful were the parents ofJ2
Those noble soldier boysG
There was one missing of the fiveM2
When they returned from warC
The one that carried the Union flagR
Lies in a Southern graveN2
The other brothers came back homeC2
To Grand Rapids their native placeO2
