Air The Rain upon the RoofA
-
-
When I was a little infantB
And I lay in mother's armsC
Then I felt the gentle pressureD
Of a loving mother's armsC
Go to sleep my little babyE
Go to sleep mamma would sayF
Oh will not my little ladyE
Go to sleep for ma to dayF
-
Oh my parents loved me dearlyE
For I was their eldest bornG
And they always called me JuliaH
In a mild and loving formI
My parents will not forget meE
Though I married and left their homeJ
For they can remember clearlyE
How with them I once did roamJ
-
Oh my mother how I love herD
Though her head is growing grayF
For in fancy I can see herD
Bending o'er me night and dayF
As she did when I was littleK
Watching me in sleep and playF
Mother now is growing feebleK
Now I will her love repayF
-
Oh my father how I love himL
For he has worked hard for meE
For to earn my food and clothingM
In my little infancyE
And oh I will not forget himL
While on earth I do remainN
May the God of heaven bless himL
In this world of grief and painN
